Adding department after title

What the stance on people adding a dept after the title? If I have a contact who is marked "principle product manager" and then its updated to "principle product manager - EBS CRM marketing" what do we do about that? Im not a big appealer when it comes to updates on my contacts unless it starts to look like im getting hacked by the same user (which this is not.. its the only update they made to my contacts).

So this is more just a curiosity since I can see that it would be additional data for someone to use.

In that instance it should not have triggered a royalty change since it did not change the level and it will help you with royalty points since the title is more descriptive especially if someone is running a search with the keyword "crm" or "marketing".

I will always purchase contacts with the more descriptive title "Product Manager Xbox" over a generic title like "Product Manager".

Re: Adding department after title

I agree... that is helpful to know although may not be a part of the title listed on the resume or business card for that person.

Now if they are adding the department and it's not really adding any value to it (such as adding the company name to the title), then I'm not a fan of that

Hecko-

I am definitely one that thinks you cant have to much data. I PM'd you the contact out of curiosity why I lost royalty if it didnt change "level"

Again this is a contact ive made 1 point off of in the last year so its not a big issue just a learning session for myself.

Thanks

Re: Adding department after title

Baguba, it didn't change level but adding "EBS CRM Marketing" probably triggered a department change - to Marketing.

Wolverine-

So would that be why I lost royalty? Again Im not having separation anxiety over this contact, I am just trying to understand.

Re: Adding department after title

Wolverine is correct!

A change to the title that results in a change of level or department.

Mgr Networks to Mgr IT = No change as same dept, same level

Dir IT to Dir Finance = Change because department changed

Thanks for the replies.

I looked but couldnt find a list of the "key word triggers" that would cause change in royalty. Does anyone have one?

Re: Adding department after title

sorry, i look at it as just one more thing for people to leave empty, or input incorrectly, and for more people to have to correct, and for the other people to complain about that they lost their royalty because someone corrected it.

Re: Adding department after title

Baguba - the level and title are assigned by technology on the back-end. We should ask staff to see if they can produce us a list :smileyhappy:
