It is very important that information is verified before graveyarding a contact. I'm sure that this has happened to many of us. I lost a Royalty Contact because another member said that the person is no longer at the company. I called and verified that the person is still employed there. The phone number listed is his direct line and his voicemail is still active, but I went the extra yard and spoke to a "live" person to verify. Diligence is key for all of us.

I know when I first started I had some titles that were actually depts. They all got graved as "not at company" Support told me that since there was no option to kill them for bad title, that "not at company" is the default to use.
Im not saying that's your situation, just something for users to keep in mind.

Good point Baguba. The contact in question is the Director of Information Technology for a major clothing chain. It didn't require too much work to find out if he was still employed there. If the person is just looking to collect points, he/she should go play darts.

I agree GoldLuck. I had someone change the title of my royalty contact from CEO "and" to CEO slash. It's the same title. It's too bad that there are a few bad apples out there. This is a great resource and should be used as such.

It has been pointed out in an older post that sometimes when one is checking an email, there can be email glitches, spam catchers and such that incorrectly tell the user that the email is bad. Since there's no way to forsee this issue there will at times be incorrect graveyarding. hmmm "graveyarding". is that really a word? anyways, it happens. do your best with it.

I've got one that has been graveyarded about four times. His company name in the e-mail has a rouge "s" in the middle that seems like it should not be there, and people always leave it out, assuming it's bad since it bounces. But I talk to him regular and he is a customer, so I just un-graveyard it and go on. We all misspell from time to time...

Tennessee321 every time you un-graveyard you are getting additional points and new royalty ownership, so you have the opportunity to get another positive rating.
I had one contact that was graveyarded 4 times. I appreciated the opportunity to get more points and poistive ratings.
The real lesson is to check/verify any lost contacts.

Its funny that you mention that. I have a good friend who is the CEO of a Fortune 500 compaany. And unless you know him, all things go through his PA. He has been graveyarded 6 times.
