Email failure due to expired message

I need a little guidance. I have 80+ emails that have failed twice due to expiration of message. Do I graveyard these for having a bad email address? or is it a problem somwhere else.

Remember all of these have been emailed twice to make sure the box wasn't full or the server was down etc.

Are these to the same company or across several?

Did you have other emails to the same domain that did go through?

No. I purposely try to send only one email per domain.

Re: Email failure due to expired message

Have you tried calling any of these prospects or just emailing? I would run through the #'s. If you dont want to cold call then you can do it in the evening to get more of the voicemails. if you get a good voicemail I wouldnt grave the contact. If you get a bad #, kill em'. If you get a corp # with no directory then its a 50 / 50.

Try using an email verifier to see what is up.

This one seems to work pretty well.

If they are timing out on a "hard" sent email, then pinging them isn't going to give any better results.

But that is a good verifier I have used it in the past. Now I use the one at http://my-addr.com/

Re: Email failure due to expired message

If you are sure that the contact's email bounced, the problem is not temporary, the problem is not on your end, and you are prepared to defend your claim that the email is bad then I would mark those contacts as bad.

You can mark the email as bad by either manually going to each contact and putting them in the GY or by submitting a bounce report.

Can you copy and paste the message header you got?  redact (X out) any identifiable info.

Re: Email failure due to expired message

The reason for the bounce is what you use to determine if you mark as bad. Just because they don't open it and it expires does not mean the email is bad, it means they didnt read your mail
